
Bracken Hendricks
Chair, Investment Committee & Founder
An innovator and thought leader in the climate solutions investment space, Bracken’s passion emerges from the intersection of economic development, social justice, and environmental sustainability. He co-founded Urban Ingeuity in 2014 and then launched Working Power in 2022 and currently serves as chair of the Working Power investment committee.
Bracken has spent 30 years leading on climate and energy policy, including:
- leading financing for over $250 M in building energy improvements as Urban Ingenuity’s founding CEO;
- co-authoring two books, "Apollo’s Fire: Igniting America’s Clean Energy Economy” (Island Press) and “Green Growth: A U.S. Program for Controlling Climate Change and Expanding Job Opportunities” (UMass PERI);
- acting as a leading contributor to Governor Jay Inslee’s 2020 Presidential Campaign platform, which shaped key provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022;
- advising President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Global Initiative on infrastructure, jobs, sustainable cities, and climate resilience;
- co-founding Evergreen Action and the Apollo Alliance, two non-profits that helped shape federal and state climate and energy policies over several decades;
- holding fellowships at the Roosevelt Institute and the Center for American Progress; and
- serving as special assistant to Vice President Al Gore and in the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Bracken is also currently a partner at J.M. Forbes & Co., a nearly 200 year old family office and registered investment advisor located in Boston, Massachusetts. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Urban Planning from Harvard University.
